I started out with the best of intentions, but just as it always happens life got in the way.
This NaNoWriMo was one giant bust! Over the ten years that I have been attempting NaNo, only my very first year had a lower word count than this year. I guess that is something.
If I think back, I kind of knew I would have a hard time winning this year. At the end of October I had to put my 17-year-old kitty, Daphne to sleep, which threw me for a loop, then I scheduled a trip to Florida for the first week of November. While I figured I would spend my spare time writing, that didn’t happen. When I got back from my trip, work kicked me in the butt, and then my mother came to visit for Thanksgiving. Yep! No time to write.
I’m taking it all in stride, though. I still have the idea in my head, have been working on my outlining, and am prepping to begin writing in January. It is just a minor setback.
Congrats to those who persevered and won NaNo 2021! To those who didn’t get the word count you wanted, just know you are not alone. We’ll get it done in 2022!
