DO YOU HAVE A DEGREE IN WRITING?
Sort of! I have a BA in English with an emphasis in Literature. While my degree isn’t technically in writing, I have done my fair share of writing throughout the years. I wrote my first song lyrics in middle school, my first poem in high school, and my first short story in college.
WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOU WANTED TO BE AN AUTHOR?
I always thought I would be a rock star, so not right away. When my rock and roll dreams didn’t become a reality, I embarked upon a fifteen year career in book publishing. It was during that time that I began to actively pursue fiction writing.
YOU REALLY WANTED TO BE A ROCK STAR?
Yes I did! I actually wanted to be a rock and roll drummer like Roxie Petrucci from Vixen. I most definitely had the big hair! It is pretty funny to go back and read through my senior yearbook. So many of my friends wished me well in moving to California and becoming a rock star. I never made it to California or became a rock star, so I figured writing my Fallen Rockstar Files series where my main character is a rock star was the next best thing.
HOW MANY BOOKS WILL BE IN THE FALLEN ROCKSTAR FILES SERIES?
This series has gone through a lot of changes since I started writing it, but I feel pretty confident that it will be a QUARTET or a four book series! The first book, A Deadly Melody, is currently planned for a fall 2021 release.
WHAT MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO WHEN YOU WRITE?
Anything and everything! Well, almost everything. I am not a fan of rap, jazz, or instrumentals. I also prefer songs with deep, meaningful lyrics, not songs that are super repetitive. I’m talking about you, “Macarena!” Music truly inspires me more than any other medium. But, it really depends on what I am writing or brainstorming at the time as to what I am listening to. I have Spotify playlists for my novels, series, characters, and even scenes. As for my current novel, A Deadly Melody, I am listening to a ton of female-fronted rock bands: Amy Lee/Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Halestorm, Fireflight, Halocene, Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, Paramore, Heart, Garbage, Lacey Sturm/Flyleaf, Vixen, Hole, Warlock, Concrete Blonde. . . Check out my novel playlists to hear some of the songs that have inspired my latest novel. If you know of a singer, band, or artist, especially female, that you think I might like, feel free to send me a message. I LOVE discovering new music!
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU AREN'T WRITING?
I love to craft. I am particularly fond of the fiber arts (crochet, cross-stitch, hand sewing, and weaving) and have had my work published in several craft publications. I am working on a new art blog to showcase some of my favorite fiber art projects. I also love to read. My latest obsession is visiting my local bookstores. I have a growing list of books that I am on the lookout for to add to my home library. Lastly, I love to just relax. Sometimes that means listening to music, doing Pilates, or sitting on the couch with a cup of tea, my cat, and a fun ’80s comedy. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is my absolute favorite movie!
HOW OFTEN DO YOUR NEWSLETTERS COME OUT?
Right now I try to get the newsletters out once a month, usually around the 1st of the month.
