Countdown to 50: Week 9 Roundup (Days #57-63 of 365)

Welcome to the Week 9 Countdown to 50 Roundup post.

Each week, I’ll be posting a weekly recap of the week’s posts that I’ve been posting over on my Instagram account, and giving a little more info on why I chose the songs I did. If you want to see the entire list, check it out, here. And if you are on Spotify and want to listen to my Countdown to 50 playlist, you can follow and listen to the playlist, here.

Happy Listening!

Day #57 of 365
Song: Walking in Memphis
Artist: Marc Cohn
Album: Marc Cohn

This is such a great song. I love a great piano song, and this one is not only that but has great lyrics, an amazing melody, and is sung with a beautiful voice. When my best friend and I took a road trip to Memphis to visit Graceland, this song was on repeat the entire time.

Day #58 of 365
Song: One Man
Artist: Crystal Lewis
Album: Fearless

Another amazing Contemporary Christian artist. Crystal Lewis has such a unique voice, and you know I love a unique voice. This album is my absolute favorite from her, and this song is also one of my favorites. I love the lyrics!

Day #59 of 365
Song: It Only Takes a Minute
Artist: Tavares
Album: In the City

Talk about a song that makes you get up and dance or rock out in the car like I always do. This song is so much fun! I don’t hear it played on the radio much and that is a shame. It is such a great song with an amazing beat and pretty funny lyrics to sing along to.

Day #60 of 365
Song: Damaged
Artist: Plumb
Album: candycoatedwaterdrops

Another Plumb song. I probably could have included a half dozen Plumb songs in this countdown, and maybe I will. I love Plumb and her music. This one is another slow jam with amazing lyrics. Her first album, Plumb, and this one are my favorite albums. They are a bit more rock than her more recent albums, but have a ton of really great songs on both of them.

Day #61 of 365
Song: Dream On
Artist: Aerosmith
Album: Aerosmith

I love Aerosmith. I have seen them and Poison more than any other bands or artists. I think I have seen them 5 times live and every time they put on an amazing show. This is one of their most famous songs and one of my favorites. My favorite part of the song is the scream from Steven Tyler and the lyrics, of course.

Day #62 of 365
Song: How Soon is Now?
Artist: The Smiths
Album: Hatful of Hollow

Love this song, The Smiths, and Morrissey. I was happy to see a whole new generation grow to love this song when it was featured in the TV show, Charmed. But, I remember it from the ’80s. Another song I first heard on the local high school radio station.

Day #63 of 365
Song: Dead Giveaway
Artist: Shalamar
Album: The Look

You don’t hear much Shalamar on the radio these days. That is too bad because they were a great group with some really great songs. And it is where we first got to hear the great Jody Watley. My favorite part of this song is the background part sung almost as a response to the lyrics. It is so fun, and I really jam out to this song!
