Welcome to the Week 2 Countdown to 50 Roundup post.
Each week, I’ll be posting a weekly recap of the week’s posts that I’ve been posting over on my Instagram account, and giving a little more info on why I chose the songs I did. If you want to see the entire list, check it out, here. And if you are on Spotify and want to listen to my Countdown to 50 playlist, you can follow and listen to the playlist, here.
Happy Listening!
Day #8 of 365
Song: Bad Girl
Artist: Madonna
Album: Erotica
This is one of many Madonna songs to make my countdown list. Bad Girl is one of my favorite Madonna songs and my favorite Madonna video. If you have never seen this video check it out, here. I love videos that tell a story, and not only does it tell a great story that matches the lyrics perfectly, but it features Christopher Walken as Madonna’s guardian angel. Plus, the visuals are amazing. I absolutely love Madonna’s look in this video.
Day #9 of 365
Song: Blue Monday
Artist: Orgy
Album: Candyass
This is a remake of a New Order song, but I always preferred the Orgy version a little better. It is heavier than the original. Plus, I actually saw Orgy in concert years ago in South Florida with some of my old Blockbuster coworkers. Every time I hear this song, I think back to my Blockbuster days.
Day #10 of 365
Song: Sara
Artist: Fleetwood Mac
Album: Tusk
I really should have saved this song until later on in the year, because this is one of my absolutely favorite songs. But, I have a couple of other favorite Fleetwood Mac songs that rotate in and out of the top spot that will be showing up later on throughout the year. The beginning of this song is one of my favorite starts to any song. When the piano starts and then Stevie’s voice comes in. . . it is just pure perfection!
Day #11 of 365
Song: Hey Ya!
Artist: OutKast
Album: Speakerboxx/The Love Below
This is one of those songs that just makes me smile every time I hear it. I can’t help but turn it up and song along when it comes on the radio. Plus, it is my go-to song to dance to on Just Dance. I have a blast dancing to this one, plus I get quite the work out!
Day #12 of 365
Song: You Don’t Bring Me Flowers
Artist: Barbra Streisand & Neil Diamond
Album: Songbird
I love this song. I am a sucker for a great duet and sappy adult contemporary song. I am also a huge Neil Diamond fan. When I sing along with this song, I always sing Neil Diamond’s part, not Barbra’s part.
Day #13 of 365
Song: Welcome to the Jungle
Artist: Guns N’ Roses
Album: Appetite for Destruction
When I was around 13, I started taking drum lessons. My drum teacher asked me what song I wanted to learn to play, and this was the song I told him. Unfortunately, after only a few lessons he left and moved to LA to sign a record contract, so I never learned to play this song. But, maybe one day I’ll learn.
Day #14 of 365
Song: Don’t Leave Me This Way
Artist: Thelma Houston
Album: Anyway You Like It
Don’t hate me, but I love disco. There will be quite a few disco songs on this countdown list. Disco songs make me happy and always make me dance whenever I hear them, whether I’m in my car, at home, at the grocery store, or wherever. This is one of those that I always turn up, especially when it comes on in my car. I feel sorry for anyone who pulls up next to me at a light, because you know I’ll be signing this one at the top of my lungs.
