2019 Blogging from A-Z Challenge: D is for Dawn Michele

Welcome to Day 4 of the Blogging from A-Z Challenge. Just a quick introduction: my name is Elissa Kane, and I am an indie author working on my first mystery novel, A Deadly Melody, which is book 1 of the Fallen Rockstar series.

If you want to find out why I chose this theme, please check out my Blogging from A-Z Challenge theme reveal post.

Now, onto the letter D. . .

Dawn Michele is the lead singer of the Christian rock band Fireflight, which formed in 1999 in Eustis, Florida. The band’s original lineup was Justin Cox, Glenn Drennen, Wendy Drennen, Phee Shorb, and Dawn.

Over the past 20 years, Dawn and Fireflight released five albums including several singles that were hits on Billboard’s Hot Christian Singles chart, were nominated for eight GMA Dove Awards, and in 2011, were nominated for their first Grammy Award for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album for the album, “For Those Who Wait.”

While Fireflight’s lineup has changed over the years, Dawn Michele has remained the front woman for the band. Last year, she released her first solo worship album.

Dawn Michele on A Deadly Melody playlist

Quite a few Fireflight songs pop up on my A Deadly Melody playlist and throughout the entire Fallen Rockstar series. “You Decide”, “Unbreakable”, “Brand New Day”, “Desperate”, “What I’ve Overcome”, “Stay Close”, “Ignite”, “Stronger Than You Think” and “Now” are the songs that are included on my novel playlist.

“Unbreakable” and “Desperate” are my two favorite songs, which are from their earlier albums. These songs are not only on my novel playlist but also on my personal playlist.

Fireflight’s sound has evolved over the years into a more electronic sound, which is still good, but I prefer their heavier rock sound from their earlier albums.
