Welcome to Day 3 of the Blogging from A-Z Challenge. Just a quick introduction: my name is Elissa Kane, and I am an indie author working on my first mystery novel, A Deadly Melody, which is book 1 of the Fallen Rockstar series.

If you want to find out why I chose this theme, please check out my Blogging from A-Z Challenge theme reveal post.
Now, onto the letter C. . .
Cristina Scabbia
I LOVE Cristina Scabbia! She is the front woman for the Italian goth metal band Lacuna Coil, and her voice is absolutely amazing. And when I think of a 100% female ROCK singer, Cristina is always at the top of my list.

Cristina began her career in 1991 as a touring musician for other bands and a background vocalist. In 1995 she joined the Milan, Italy rock band Sleep of Right, which would later become Lacuna Coil.
She was initially hired only as a session singer, but quickly became part of the band when the members liked the dual female/male vocal harmony with fellow bandmate Andrea Ferro.

A fun little fact: Lacuna Coil means “empty spiral.”
Cristina Scabbia / Lacuna Coil on A Deadly Melody playlist
Cristina and Lacuna Coil are scattered all over my A Deadly Melody playlist and throughout the entire Fallen Rockstar series. So many of their songs offer inspiration for my novel, the series, and especially my main character Elle.
I first discovered Cristina thanks to the “fans also like” feature on Spotify. When you listen to an artist, Spotify suggests other artists that are similar to what you are listening to. Lacuna Coil popped up while I was listening to another female fronted band that will make an appearance on this challenge in a few days. Thanks, Spotify!
One of my favorite songs from Lacuna Coil and really one of my favorite songs period is “End of Time.” The song and video were huge inspirations for me when I first started to think about A Deadly Melody, and is such an important song on my playlist and for several of my characters.
Other Lacuna Coil songs that appear on my series playlists are “Heaven’s a Lie”, “Enjoy the Silence”, “Spellbound”, “Nothing Stands in Our Way”, “I Forgive (But I Won’t Forget Your Name)”, “I’m Not Afraid”, and “Live to Tell”, which is an amazing rock version of the Madonna classic.
