Music is a huge part of my life. So, it is no surprise that it is also a huge part of my novels.
I thought it would be fun while I am writing A Deadly Melody to post my chapter playlists, so it will give you a little glimpse into what songs are inspiring my novel, chapters, and even characters.
Today, I am sharing with you the A-Side of my playlist for Chapter 3 of A Deadly Melody.
Chapter 3 is a pretty important chapter and shifts the story to a brand new setting.
There is a lot going on in this chapter with new settings, characters, and challenges for my main character. I can’t really remember why I put Elton John’s Mona Lisa’s and Mad Hatters in this chapter, but I really love this song so maybe that was the only reason.
Marilyn Manson’s Sweet Dreams (are Made of This) is a spooky remake of The Eurythmics song. Spooky, dark, demented. . . describe Marilyn Manson as well as this chapter.
I just now realized I have two mad hatter songs in this chapter. Insanity is a prevalent theme so that might be why Elton John is in this chapter. I’m not 100% sure, but it is definitely why Melanie Martinez’s Matter Hatter is here.
“I’m nuts, baby, I’m mad
The craziest friend that you’ve ever had
You think I’m psycho, you think I’m gone
Tell the psychiatrist something is wrong
Over the bend, entirely bonkers
You like me best when I’m off my rocker
Tell you a secret, I’m not alarmed
So what if I’m crazy? The best people are”
Take the Bullets Away, Mad World, and Crazy Train finish off the first half of Chapter 3.
What’s Coming Up On The Next Playlist?
Chapter 3’s B-Side brings more “crazy” songs for the chapter’s big storyline.
